Den Runen wird im allgemeinen auch eine heilende und stärkende Fähigkeit zugesprochen. In der Muggelwelt finden sie sich ab und an auf Waffen oder Helmen wieder, aber auch in der Zauberwelt übernehmen sie eine Funktion. So sind Runen auf Denkarien zum Beispiel häufig verewigt.
